Summer Placement Opportunity for Theological Students
The Diocese of the Arctic is inviting applications from faithful theological students across North America who are eager to experience the adventure of ministry in the tight-knit communities of Arctic Canada. Interns should be prepared to lead worship in the Anglican tradition, to faithfully preach the scriptures (independently or through an interpreter), to host a small Bible School for children (materials and guidance provided), to meet their community and make friendships with many local people, and to have a summer full of memorable experiences in a land of warm smiles and rugged beauty that will shape a lifetime of ministry. Mentorship is provided by bishops, clergy, and experienced local lay leaders.
Worship and preaching is to be Biblically-faithful and in accordance with the teachings of the Anglican Church as found in the Book of Common Prayer (1962), but candidates from any denominational background are encouraged to apply.
This is an internship opportunity for current theological students. We will provide return airfare to the Arctic from the closest major airport in North America. Housing will be provided. A stipend will cover living expenses and incidentals. (Married students or families are welcome to apply, but we are only able to fund airfare for the Intern). The length of the placement is negotiable from 2-3 months and, if your summer placement is taken for required credit at your theological college, we will work together to fulfil the requirements as set forth in your academic catalog.
We provide the summer placement of a lifetime. You become an ambassador for Arctic ministry.
For interested candidates, there is potential for the Intern to enter the discernment and ordination process for the Diocese upon graduation, with ministry opportunities across the North.
